MONA (V.O.) – Through-composed music 

 

This story is an adventure through space and time.  

It’s written by a dreamer  

Who left the stage, but returned once more after a detour in …  

The Outback: a place of discovery and danger. 

And it’s told through me (beat), Mona.   

 

This journey of discovery became my outback adventure  

In the town of Winton, 

Where I met two men along the way –  

One warm and steady, 

And one electric and unavailable. 

 

Earth, fire, air, water; the elements that guide my life. 

 

Earth grounds me, reminding me to rest. 

Fire is my passion for dance put to the test.  

Air is the clarity of voice when I sing. 

Water carries my tears of frustration and healing. 

 

This story carries an imperial legacy, like gilded bees, 

Building ‘the dream’ patiently and beautifully.  

 

Reminding me that reinvention is possible.  

 

Every time I close my eyes at night, 

I saw three doors open in front of me: 

one door to Winton, one to the stages of the world, 

and a third door to the ‘Unknown’. 

 

My choice would decide the whole journey. 

I did not know then how much courage 

it would take to walk through the third door. Until now.
